ROCK THE VOTE

As we sat there, amazed, we weren’t able to move nor blink, waiting for the next inspiring words to move our spirit. It was as if she had bewitched us with unbelievable stories about freedom and being able to choose. The right to vote, oh how simple it sounds! But believe it or not it’s not easy to accomplish, to move hundreds of hundreds of young people to choose the way they want their country to be like. Heather Smith (President of Rock the Vote organization) is a down to earth, fun person to talk to. She told us about her ability to be a leader and how she accomplished her dreams through really hard work over the years. She even had Bill Clinton standing next to her declaring he would save every forest in the United States from companies by protecting them, a project she had worked for months on. “In 2008, Smith led Rock the Vote to achieve it’s highest voter registration number in the organization’s 20 year history-2.2 million individuals used Rock the Vote’s tools to register to vote.” (www.rockthevote.com) As said before she is an outstanding person to look up to. After the students asked their corresponding questions we could help but to approach to the stage to know more about her and her life. It was clearly an unforgettable experience.

OPERATIVO DE EVACUACIÓN

Aproximadamente a las 11:00 horas del viernes 19 del presente, se efectuó un Operativo de Evacuación, que culminó en la zona de Seguridad, previamente conocida por los alumnos. Toda la comunidad fue felicitada por la Dirección del establecimiento por el orden y seriedad, -puesto por todos-, en este nuevo simulacro. Indicamos a través de esta nota, que toda la operación duró 11 minutos, que es un tiempo aceptable para ser la primera vez que se realiza en el presente año escolar. A futuro se tratará de rebajar los tiempos. De regreso a la unidad educativa, se realizó una evaluación del tema, por los docentes directivos que lideran esta actividad.

OPERACIÓN DEYSE

En la mañana del martes 9 del presente se realizó un primer operativo de evacuación (Operación DEYSE)., con la participación de todos los estamentos del establecimiento. Luego de escuchar las alarmas, alumnos y docentes abandonaron las aulas y se dirigieron a los lugares previamente establecidos de ubicación. El evento duró 5 minutos y se realizó en orden y disciplina. Lideró la acción la docente Paulina Figueroa P., que se ha propuesto bajar el tiempo del operativo, en una próxima oportunidad. En todo caso los alumnos del AIS., demuestran una gran cultura cívica en este tipo de eventos, y se nota que están debidamente informados del tema, dada la seriedad puesta en su accionar. NOTA: En general, los antofagastinos han sufrido en años recientes algunos siniestros y en caso de ocurrir algo en actividades lectivas "no hay mayor seguridad para nuestros niños, que su propio colegio".
